Dedicated Bike Space on Trains Trial

Transport for NSW has informed the club about the Roll-on Bikes Phase 2 trial that’s underway. They have sent the following information:

From Monday, 4 August and for up to three months, passengers can book a dedicated bike space, in which two bikes can be secured, meaning they don’t need to be dismantled, boxed and checked in as luggage on the daily XPT services from Dubbo to Sydney and return. The trial aims to investigate ways to encourage cyclists to use public transport to visit the regions.

Following feedback from numerous stakeholders, the trial has now been expanded to allow bigger bikesseven-day access and mid-journey stops between Sydney and Dubbo at Bathurst and Orange.

We will capture feedback from trial participants via an online survey. We’re aiming to gather important information to understand how

roll-on bikes can work across our regional rail network.

If you require further information about the trial, please refer to the media release and news article with FAQs on the Transport for NSW website.
