Fiona Nettings at Wollongong Council has contacted the Illawarra Ramblers paddling group to ask if we could participate in the Plastic Free July cleanup on 3rd July.

The request is to pick up rubbish on the shores of Gooseberry and Hooka Islands – part of our playground.  A reconnaissance has been conducted – there is enough rubbish to help. We need as many paddlers as possible to do both islands. If we don’t get enough volunteers, a second day will be needed.

The plan is:

Date: Thursday 3rd July

Launch site: Berkeley Harbour

Time: 0830hrs on the water

The Council will provide bags, gloves etc.  Paul’s boat will be used to carry the rubbish back to Berkeley

In the event of bad weather, we will try again the following week.
