A meander around Robertson which will include sighting a number of historical buildings, walking through the Robertson Nature Reserve and the Heritage Railway precinct to see the Waratahs which hopefully will be in full bloom. Coffee along the way and a short walk along the Caalang Creek to get back to our cars.  Optional picnic lunch in the park afterwards – BYO or buy at the coffee shop.

Suggest bringing (or buying) a sandwich or snack to munch on within the Gardens, and to fortify yourself for the short uphill walk to the lift.

Spring in the Southern Highlands!  We start at the Bowral swimming baths and cycle through old Bowral via the Bradman Oval on to the eastern suburbs.  Our usual stop at the wombats, then head towards Burradoo.  We follow the Wingecarribee River to Moss Vale for coffee (bring bike chain/lock). Back to Bowral in time for optional BYO lunch in the park.

Catch bus route # 57 at 9:08 from Wollongong Station to Windang arriving 9:47. Walk across bridge (west-side) onto shared path, then another bridge onto Picnic Island, then back onto path for the beautiful lakeside stroll to Boonerah Point Cafe. Weather on the day permitting, the padders should be emerging from Lake Illawarra for their hard earned coffee. After hearing their tales of big waves and predators in the lake, we’ll walk onto Albion Park for the train home. Potential for snack/lunch in Wilson Memorial Reserve, near station if we miss train. Pace is described as moderate only if we want to rush to catch train. If no hurry, then leisurely. Meet Wollongong Station east-side 9:00 am.

Killalea is a freshwater coastal lagoon and an important breeding habitat for many birds, some of which we hope to spot on our walk. The lagoon walk is mostly on gravel path with some beach walking along the beautiful Killalea Farm Beach. Although the track is mostly flat, there are a couple of uphill sections including the uphill section as we return to the kiosk.

This is a circuit walk start and finish at Northern end of the Aldi carpark off Narang Road, we’ll follow some of the less known tracks on the western side taking in the zieria cages and some rock wall areas. Following this we’ll return on the creek’s eastern side back to the carpark. There may be some wet rocky crossings depending on recent rainfall.

Joint Walk with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers. Starting at the Lighthouse Road/Fishermans Beach track junction, we’ll walk into Fisherman’s Beach. From here, we’ll traverse rock platforms to Little Target Beach and Target Beach (possible short sandy creek crossing to get onto Target Beach). From here we’ll go to Silica Cove for a look at a ship wreck before returning to Honeymoon Bay. There’ll be an optional off-track option to traverse into Honeymoon Bay from Lashies Point. Swimming opportunities for those with a penchant for immersing themselves in cold, salty water. Short car shuffle at the start and finish. Confident rock hopping required.

Joint Walk with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers. Parking at the end of Upper Kangaroo River Rd. Firstly we will follow this rainforest (Gibson) Creek up to the base of Minnie Haha Falls rock scrambling and quite steep in places. We should be able to pick up the remains of an old road for an easier but not as scenic return journey. Once back to the cars we’ll change into walking sandals/Dunlop volleys or shoes we don’t mind getting wet for our crossing of the Kangaroo River (ankle to calf deep). This we may cross numerous times and will travel as far upstream as the group wishes. Definite swimming possibilities.
