Before participating in an activity, please familiarise yourself with our Grading and Guidelines and in particular, check that your equipment is in good condition.
Please do not attend any Ramblers Club activity if you are not feeling well.
Sat 02 Dec, 2023 Walk: Maddens Plains to Mount Mitchell
Follow tracks from Maddens Plains to Mount Mitchell (overlooking Stanwell Park) and return. Great bush scenery and coastal views. Some moderate ascents.
Mon 04 Dec, 2023 Cycle: Port Kembla to Albion Park Rail via Warilla Beach
Riders could catch the all stations train leaving Thirroul at 7:58, Towradgi 8:09, Wollongong 8:18 etc. arriving at Port Kembla 8:30. Ride south past Port Kembla Surf Club, over Windang Bridge and by Reddall Reserve to Warilla Surf Club for coffe. After coffee, ride back to the bridge and south around the lake to Albion Park station. Those wanting to ride further can alight from the train at Coniston and ride home, stopping for refreshments at UOW Innovation Campus. A mainly coastal/waterside ride

Park near Scarborough Hotel or already be on the train. Train from Scarborough to Otford, part of Great Southern Walk including Bald Hill, part of Grand Pacific Walk including Seacliff Bridge, finish Scarborough. 300m total ascent. Maybe a cool or hot drink at Clifton or Scarborough pub. Home for lunch. Registration essential for this one as I need to check walking track closures and train times in the week before.

Meet Wattamolla for car shuffle back to Otford.
Undulating coast track, overlooking ocean. May be hot, bring adequate water and lunch.
This track is part of the iconic Otford to Bundeena coast track.

A leisurely ride from Redall Reserve to Killalea and return. Mostly cycleway with some quiet streets and a couple of hills.
Decorate your bikes and wear something to suit the occasion. Coffee and cake at Killalea

Climb Hill 60 for some great views, down to Red Point & Fisho’s beach, around the rocks of Boilers Point (optional) then MM beach and outer harbour southern break wall, return without the hill via the pathway. Bring a snack for along the way. Optional café visit at the end. Home for lunch.

It’s been a few years since we’ve done this trip and I’ve had some questions about when it will be on again, so here it is in 2024. Five night stay at a caravan park on the far south coast. 4 days of grade 2 to 4 walks, up to 14km, in Bournda, Beowa (Ben Boyd) and South East Forest NP’s. Must be able to drive on 2WD dirt roads or come with a buddy that can. I am planning to take a trek to Everest Base Camp via Salpa Pass in April 2024. If you have ever wanted to see Nepal and the big one Mt Everest, please contact me.
This will be my 3rd trip with the same company They are Australian based, specialised in small group trips. The owners, are very experienced with Nepal and come along for the trips.
