Sat 26 Oct, 2019   Walk: Carrington Falls circuit via Missingham Pass and Kangaroo River to the Steps.

Leader: Edward Popham    View Leaders List

Description below sounds a bit horrendous but it is quite a easy scramble overall. Walk across the River at the top of the falls and to Izzards lookout and Stevos pass.  Maybe some wild Waratah in flower this time of year. Some mild off track and rough sections.  Depending on weather the river could become impassible but I doubt it. Descend parts of Missingham Pass and scramble down to the Kangaroo river at the junction of Dtharowal Creek. Ascend the other side of the gorge and Missingham Steps to the northern top.  Mild rock climbing. Various lookouts on the northern side.  View the sign which paraphrases “Abandon hope all ye who enter here” (after you did it!)

Sat 23 Nov, 2019   Walk: Carrington Falls top to bottom and out via Missingham Steps

Leader: Edward Popham    View Leaders List

Kangaroo River at the top of the falls. Izzards lookout then steep scramble down into the gorge.  May require a rope assisted scramble of 3m.  Slight detour due to belay tree having become deceased. Gorge could be a bit wet depending on conditions but last time I managed to keep my feet dry.  Visit the deep black ominous looking pool at the bottom – you do not have to swim.  The English all hope abandon, ye who enter here comes from an 1814 translation of Divine Comedy.  A bit of off track to find Missingham steps on the north side of the gorge.  Missingham steps requires a bit of mild rock climbing.

Distance: 8 Km    Duration: 6 Hr    Grade: 4 Leisurely
