Dear Members: A special walk with 2 purposes, Sunday 27 July
Purpose 1: To celebrate National Tree Day
Purpose 2: To attract potential new members to enjoy a day with us.
Celebrate National Tree Day with the Illawarra Ramblers – Sunday 27 July
Enjoy a day out among the trees. Ascend Mt Mitchell through a tall gum forest, arriving at the top into an Angophora patch. Take in some of the Illawarra’s best views. Take the inland route around water storages of yesteryear, past pipelines and pumping station, crossing 2 creeks leading to waterfalls. Head east on tracks leading to the escarpment edge near Tumbling Waters descending to Stanwell Park Station.
A water stop under cover of overhanging rock shelf, morning tea break with top ocean and coastal views, and early lunch overlooking the viaduct. Hopefully we’ll be on flat ground before Stanwell Park’s coffee shops close. Along the way pick up a bit of folklore about the route.

The Facebook page and hopefully elsewhere will have notices inviting visitors. Members are asked to come to help share our story. The more of us to talk about the trees, (and there of plenty of them), the better.
There are also lots of steps. Reasonable fitness is a prerequisite. The pace will be very leisurely.
Please check the Activities Program to register.
