Leader: Greg Smith/Pam Hayes    View Leaders List

YES its another creek walk for a summer’s day. Parking at the end of Upper Kangaroo River Road at Flatrock. This walk is all off track involving crossing the river at the start, usually only ankle deep. We make our way upstream beside the river and in the river (often calf deep) visiting a beautiful hidden waterfall. Numerous pretty cascades along the way with lots of swimming opportunities. It’s a return route so we turn back whenever we choose. Best clothing is Dunlop Volleys/covered toe sandals such as Keens or joggers with grip plus active wear long or 3/4 length tights/long pants. Your legs will be wet all day so leg protection is a good idea hence above suggestion.

We will stop and check out an old rail viaduct, still in use by the current rail alignment, just off the fire trail before descending into an old rail cutting that leads into the now defunct Cawley rail tunnel (one of six in the region) which will bring us out to the now disused Cawley rail station (it is actually used as an informal skate park). We will then move onto Helensburgh Stn and a quick look into 2 more disused rail tunnels.
