Pre-registration and number of participants are at the discretion of the leader.
Registration and participation implies your Acknowledgement of Risk and Obligations.
Members who are E-bike riders are required to take out individual insurance with Bicycle NSW. You need to login first then click here to get a 15% discount code.
E-bikes must meet the NSW Government requirements for permitted e-bikes.
Before participating in an activity, please familiarise yourself with our Grading and Guidelines and in particular, check that your equipment is in good condition.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the advertised start time to prepare, sign on and be ready for the pre-activity briefing.
Please do not attend any Ramblers Club activity if you are not feeling well.
Sat 13 Sep, 2025 Meeting: Illawarra Ramblers AGM and social lunch at the Towradgi Bowling Club
All members are invited to attend the 2025 Annual General Meeting at the Towradgi Bowling Club. The meeting will commence at 11.00am and will be followed by lunch which will be served at 11.45am.

Sun 14 Sep, 2025 Walk: Maddens Plains to Sublime Point
Pleasant, fairly level walk with one steep slippery slope. Boronia and other wildflowers are blooming. Morning tea at Sublime Point where we can enjoy the beautiful coastal views. Back home for lunch.
Mon 15 Sep, 2025 Cycle: Skiway Park to Albion Park
Around the lake from Oak Flats through Albion Park Rail to Macquarie Rivulet, then alongside the freeway to Albion Park and Croom Reserve. We follow the path to Croome Road, then head towards the playground and tennis courts in Tongarra Road to reach Kimbeth Crescent and the bike path which will take us to the airport. Coffee at HARS. We return via Macquarie Rivulet and the path that takes us back to Skiway Park. Mainly level, bike path most of the way.

Tue 16 Sep, 2025 Cycle: Dapto Dogs Memorial Ride
This ride is to mark the last greyhound race at Dapto. Whether you see this as positive or negative, it is still the end of an era. An Historic event.
A glorious and exciting ride is planned into the depths of the Dapto bad lands. We will be ably assisted by Horsley local and Lord of the Labyrinth, Greg Green.
Around quiet streets and cycle paths around Horsley on the edge of farmland and bush. Up Bong Bong road for views back to the valley and the coast. Then on to Wongawilli and the Smiths Dairy café for well deserved coffee. Return via the cycle paths and quiet streets along the edge of Robins Creek to Dapto station.
For those wanting to assert their rights to take e-bikes on the train; the 7:33am at Thirroul gets into Dapto at 8:07am

Wed 17 Sep, 2025 Walk: Killalea – Southern loop
We’ll head south from the main carpark via the coastal ridge track, Mystics beach and sand spit (low tide) then return past the campground and western trail. No need to register – meet main picnic area carpark at 8:30. SMS leader on the day if in doubt.

Tue 23 Sep, 2025 Cycle: Fred Finch Park to Inner Harbour
A short stint on Hooka Creek Road, then we cycle on the path alongside Hooka Creek, before crossing over to Holborn Park. Continue around the lake to Warrawong, then the direct route past the shopping centre to the Surf Club at Port Kembla beach. On to the Inner Harbour before heading back to Cakes by Rach for coffee. We return to Berkeley past the shopping centre again, back to Northcliffe Drive and around the lake to Fred Finch Park. Mainly bike paths, some streets, and hills. Lake and ocean views.

Mon 29 Sep, 2025 Cycle: 10th Anniversary Liverpool to Wolli Creek via Parramatta, Meadowbank & Olympic Park
Commencing from Warwick Farm station, via Cabramatta, Parramatta, checking out part or all of the new shared path adjacent to the light rail to Carlingford (up to extra 8.2km). Then onto Olympic Park and by the banks of the Cooks River to Wolli Creek. Train back to Macarthur. A full day out. Early coffee at Cabramatta. Lunch near Rydalmere.
Near flat all the way, except for the downhill parts.
Graded higher because of length of ride.
Wed 01 Oct, 2025 Walk: Cooks River Shared path/cycleway
Train to Wolli Creek, then walk along the scenic Cooks River from Tempe, with stops for coffee and picnic lunch. Return the same way, possible detour on opposite bank through the golf course. Some unshaded sections.

Cycle 8 great rides mostly rail trails. Including some long downhill runs (with shuttle returns). Staying at Beechworth, Bonegilla and Rutherglen. Accommodation is being held, but not for long and numbers are limited. You need to decide soon. Contact Peter Aubourg for further details.

Wed 08 Oct, 2025 Walk: Industrial history walk in Homebush Bay including bridges, shipwrecks, factories; and birds too
Originally to be billed as Shipwrecks of Homebush Bay walk; but recce walk revealed a lot more to see, enjoy and be stimulated by. Walk will be interspersed with a number of related historical talks.
Starting with the Meadowbank railway bridge talk, then the industrial developments around Rhodes, but not forgetting the shipwrecks themselves.
Bring binoculars for viewing of lagoon birds from bird hides and an architectural quiz.
Easy walk, limited steps, with many pleasant views and photo opportunities, and except for a few hundred metres is on sealed footpaths. Route itself is all along river/bay foreshore or amongst the mangroves.
Starts with enjoyable ferry ride to Meadowbank and finishes Concord West train station.
4h walking plus coffee/lunch breaks (bring own lunch/snacks) lecture breaks and bird watching time.

Rather than drive up early, suggest plan a Saturday night out in Sydney, going up by train if no trackwork and stay at ‘budget motel’ within reach of St Leonards Park

Wed 29 Oct, 2025 Walk: Sculptures by the Sea
The walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee is a lovely walk and gives us the chance to enjoy the Sculpturs by the Sea between Bondi and Tamarama before continuing on to Coogee. Travel by train and bus.

Sat 01 Nov, 2025 Walk: Old Man’s Hat, Beecroft Head, Currarong
Mainly Grade 3, but we will venture off track to visit some interesting (not often seen) POIs. We will start at the Abrahams Bosom car park and make our way up to Merimbula Trig before heading on to Beecroft Head. From here we’ll work down to the base of Old Man’s Hat and beyond (pretty scratchy for the first 50m). Very spectacular!!! (you’ll need to be confident rock scrambling.) We’ll then work our way south and scramble down into Moore’s Inlet/Eves Ravine so we can admire where we’ve been. If time permits, we will continue south, traversing past three ravines before heading back to the cars. Joint walk with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers.
Sat 15 Nov, 2025 Walk: Macquarie Pass Top to Bottom
Walk from the top of Macquarie Pass to the bottom. Starting on an old bullock track then off track to Clover Hill Rd. Final descent through the Cascades to the bottom at Macquarie Rivulet. Car shuffle required between top and bottom.

Sat 29 Nov, 2025 Walk: Cape St George Circuit, Booderee NP
Starting at the Moes (Green) Rock car park, we’ll make our way along the rock platform (swell permitting) to Stony Creek and Cape St George. We’ll then cross a headland before descending into Rock Funnel Beach. After this, we’ll follow the faint track for spectacular views of the sea caves at Paradise Rocks which we’ll traverse around to and then follow the fire trail back to the cars. Possible swimming opportunities along the way or at Green Patch on the way back.
This is an easy Grade 4 walk but it is Grade 4. You’ll need to be comfortable walking over rough terrain.
This is a combined walk with the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers.

Series of grade 3 to 3½ walks over four days including Namadgi NP, Tidbinbilla NR and Mulligans Flat NR. Suggested accommodation is at a tourist park which is best to book early.
