Whitsunday Islands National Park – New Walk

A new walking track is opening next year in the Whitsundays. Details are below:

Formed between 19,000 and 6,000 years ago when rising sea levels ‘drowned’ an ancient mountain range, the Whitsunday Islands now stand as breathtaking peaks

surrounded by turquoise waters and coral reefs. Traditional homelands of the Ngaro people, this paradise offers unforgettable experiences for walkerscampers, and ocean lovers alike.

Opening in mid-2026, the 32km Ngaro Track on Whitsunday Island links Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, offering stunning coastal views, 2 new eco-campsites, and an immersive journey through the rich cultural heritage of the Ngaro people.
From Ngaro rock art at Hook Island’s Nara Inlet to rare wildlife and world-class beaches, the Whitsundays, part of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, promise adventure, beauty, and connection with nature at every turn.
