Meet the President!

As a walker in the Ramblers I don’t get to meet many paddlers or cyclists so I thought I should introduce myself, having accepted the illustrious role of President of the Ramblers!

I’m a country girl, raised on a dairy farm in the Bega Valley and so used to roaming over hill and dale and (sometimes up mountains as we owned a bush run near Bemboka).

After attending University I became a primary school teacher, a profession that is popular in the Ramblers. Currently I am working at Mt Brown Public School and hope to retire in 2 years.

Besides bushwalking, I go to art lessons and try to paint some of the beautiful places I have walked to around Australia.

I joined the Ramblers in 2009 and have been happily walking with a great bunch of people ever since. The current collaboration with Shoalhaven Bushwalkers has opened up more opportunities for Ramblers and I have seen the most wonderful places that I would not have experienced except for the generosity of all the leaders in volunteering their time and knowledge of the area. I am also the fittest I have been since I played soccer at Uni!

Being on the committee has opened my eyes to the intricacies of running a club and I am so grateful for all the committee members who give up their time to keep the club running. I could not fill the role of treasurer or website manager as I do not have the knowledge, but I know I have other skills such as public speaking that can benefit the club.

So, if you do have the knowledge and skills that may benefit the club, please volunteer your time as you will find it a great experience and you will be working with amazing people.

Hope to meet you soon.

Pam
