Some of the Monday southern bike rides will be affected by the planned closure of Slater’s Bridge, Oak Flats due to renewal works. We have received the following advice from the Shellharbour Council:
Works are scheduled to start in late May or early June, pending the required environmental approvals.
- Construction works are programmed to take 8 weeks.
- Access across the bridge will be closed for the 8 weeks. Alternative access is via Mineral Road and Keith Bond Oval.
- Signs will be erected 1 week prior to the closure of the bridge to advise of the work & closure dates.
The suggested alternative access includes a section of Industrial Road which is not suitable for cycling. Therefore while the bridge is closed southern rides will commence at Skiway Park, Oak Flats. We will notify members via email once the closure dates are known. If in doubt, please contact the relevant leader.
