Vale Ron Carvell

Vale Ron Carvell

Ron was born in Somerset, England in 1932 and left school at 14 to work at the steelworks in Corby.  He met Marj and they bought bicycles to ride the 10 miles to work. Ron did an apprenticeship in painting and decorating and spent all his working life using these skills.  Having married, he and Marj became “Ten Pound Poms” and migrated to Australia where they became dedicated travelling Aussies.  They loved bush camping and travelling with their 3 children in Africa, and the world and all over Australia.  They loved riding bicycles in the great outdoors.  Ron had a wry sense of humour and in his mature years when the body began to need repairs, he joked that when he died many bits could be extracted and recycled – they were worth so much!
