There was a recent enquiry about ambulance services.  Those services do not get mentioned in the policy as a benefit.  An explanation from Bushwalking Australia regarding ambulance services is included in the links above.

You will note that according to Bushwalking Australia, for ambulance services in NSW the government pays 51% of the fees, but I suggest you check this out.  Generally, it seems for all substantial activities, particularly in this state, we are well advised to take out separate policies such as are obtainable from a health fund or The Ambulance Service.
